Description

This Southern Peach Cobbler is a warm and comforting plant-based dessert bursting with fresh, juicy peaches and a tender cinnamon-spiced fruit filling topped with a fluffy, golden crust. Perfect for family gatherings or simple treats, it delivers balanced sweetness and nostalgic southern charm in every cozy bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Peach Filling

  • 6 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup organic cane sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (natural)
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg (natural)
  • 1 tsp vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (natural)
  • 2 tsp natural gelling agent

Topping

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour blend for gluten-free version)
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup plant-based butter
  • 1/3 cup organic cane sugar
  • 1/2 cup plant-based milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Peach Filling: Peel and slice the fresh peaches. In a bowl, toss the peaches with lemon juice, organic cane sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural), vanilla extract (natural), and the natural gelling agent. Set aside to marinate while preparing the topping.
  2. Make the Topping Batter: In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the plant-based butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the sugar, then gradually add the plant-based milk, mixing just until a thick, smooth batter forms.
  3. Assemble the Cobbler: Pour the peach mixture and its juices into a greased baking dish. Drop spoonfuls of the topping batter evenly over the peaches, leaving some gaps to allow the fruit to bubble through while baking.
  4. Bake to Perfection: Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 40 to 45 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the peach filling is bubbling. Allow to cool slightly before serving to let the flavors set.

Notes

  • Use perfectly ripe peaches for best natural sweetness and texture.
  • Do not overmix the batter to keep the topping light and fluffy.
  • Grease your baking dish well to prevent sticking and help form crispy edges.
  • Let the cobbler rest before serving to allow the filling to thicken.
  • Grind cinnamon and nutmeg fresh for maximum aroma and flavor.
