Ready in under 30 minutes, this dish offers a perfect balance of flavors and textures, making it an ideal weeknight meal that is both nutritious and satisfying.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 300g tender beef strips (sirloin recommended)
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, finely minced

Sauce Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce (natural)
  • 2 tbsp vegetarian Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar (natural)
  • 1/4 tsp natural gelling agent

Other

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Ingredients: Slice the beef into thin strips. Chop the red, yellow, and green bell peppers into bite-sized pieces. Thinly slice the onion. Finely mince the garlic and ginger. Having all ingredients ready before cooking ensures an easy and smooth stir fry process.
  2. Make the Stir Fry Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce (natural), vegetarian Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar (natural), and natural gelling agent until combined and glossy. This sauce will beautifully coat the beef and vegetables.
  3. Sear the Beef: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the beef strips in a single layer and cook until browned on all sides but not fully cooked through. Remove the beef and set aside to avoid overcooking later.
  4. Stir Fry the Vegetables: In the same pan, add a little more vegetable oil if needed. Add the sliced onion, garlic, and ginger first. Sauté until they soften and become fragrant. Then add the colorful bell peppers and cook until tender-crisp, maintaining their vibrant texture.
  5. Combine and Finish Cooking: Return the beef strips to the pan with the vegetables. Pour the prepared sauce over everything and toss well to coat. Cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes until the beef is fully cooked and the sauce has thickened to a nice consistency.

Notes

  • Use high heat to ensure quick cooking and preserve the crispness of vegetables and tenderness of beef.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan; if necessary, cook in batches to prevent steaming.
  • Slice all ingredients uniformly for even cooking and a pleasant texture.
  • For extra tender and flavorful beef, marinate the strips briefly in some of the stir fry sauce before cooking.
  • Add fresh green onions at the end of cooking as a garnish to keep their flavor bright and texture fresh.
