Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup natural cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon natural gelling agent
  • Pinch of salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup plant-based butter
  • 3/4 cup natural brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup natural grape juice
  • 1 teaspoon natural vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)

Optional Add-ins

  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, or almonds)
  • 1/2 cup plant-based chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup dried cherries or cranberries
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon or a pinch of natural chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon instant coffee powder

Instructions

  1. Prepare your baking pan: Lightly grease your baking pan with plant-based butter and dust it with a little natural cocoa powder to prevent sticking and add extra chocolate flavor.
  2. Melt the butter and mix in sugars: In a heatproof bowl, melt the plant-based butter gently over low heat. Stir in the natural brown sugar until fully combined, creating a luscious base.
  3. Add grape juice and vanilla extract: Pour in the natural grape juice and natural vanilla extract, stirring well to blend the flavors and add moisture.
  4. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, natural cocoa powder, natural gelling agent, and a pinch of salt to ensure even distribution.
  5. Incorporate dry mix into wet mixture: Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, folding gently to maintain a soft, fudgy texture without overmixing.
  6. Add vegetarian Worcestershire sauce and optional nuts: Stir in the vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural) for rich depth. Toss in any chopped nuts or plant-based chocolate chips or dried fruit if using.
  7. Bake to perfection: Pour the batter into your prepared pan and bake in a preheated oven at 175°C (350°F) for 25 to 30 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs but not wet batter.

Notes

  • Use quality natural cocoa powder to deepen the chocolate flavor.
