Description

This easy Creamed Corn in Crock Pot recipe delivers a rich, velvety, and comforting side dish bursting with the natural sweetness of corn and smoky depth from smoked turkey bacon. Made with plant-based cream and slow-cooked to silky perfection, it is ideal for busy days or cozy dinners and sure to become a favorite addition to your meal rotation.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh or frozen sweet corn kernels
  • 1 cup plant-based cream
  • 4 slices smoked turkey bacon, diced
  • 1 tablespoon vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons plant-based butter
  • 1 teaspoon natural gelling agent
  • 1/4 cup grape juice
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prep the Ingredients: Start by finely chopping the yellow onion and mincing the garlic cloves. Dice the smoked turkey bacon into bite-sized pieces. If using frozen corn, measure it out without thawing.
  2. Sauté the Bacon and Aromatics: Heat a pan over medium heat and cook the smoked turkey bacon until crispy. Remove from the pan and set aside, then use the rendered fat to sauté the onions until translucent and soft. Add garlic at the end to prevent burning.
  3. Combine Everything in the Crock Pot: Place the corn, sautéed onion and garlic, cooked smoked turkey bacon, plant-based butter, vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural), grape juice, salt, pepper, and natural gelling agent into the crock pot. Stir everything gently to combine.
  4. Slow Cook for Creaminess: Set your crock pot to low and cook for 4 to 5 hours. The slow simmer allows corn to release its sweetness and blend beautifully with the creamy ingredients, thickening naturally.
  5. Add Plant-Based Cream and Final Seasoning: About 30 minutes before serving, stir in the plant-based cream and adjust seasoning if needed to enhance taste and creaminess. Let it cook a bit more to fully incorporate.

Notes

  • Use fresh corn if possible for the best natural sweetness and texture.
  • Don’t skip the sauté step; browning onions and bacon first adds incredible depth of flavor.
  • Use just enough natural gelling agent to thicken without making the dish too firm.
  • If your crock pot allows, stir once or twice during cooking to prevent sticking.
  • Add plant-based cream at the end to keep it fresh and prevent separation.
