Ingredients
Scale
Chocolate Layers
- 200g Dark Chocolate (plant-based)
- 200g White Chocolate (plant-based)
Toppings & Flavoring
- 1 cup Crushed Candy Canes or Peppermint Candies
- 1 tsp Natural Peppermint Flavoring (natural), divided
- Optional: 1 tsp Natural Gelling Agent
- Optional: 1 tsp Vegetarian Worcestershire Sauce (natural) for savory variations
Instructions
- Prepare Your Ingredients and Workspace: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Gather the dark and white chocolates, crushed candy canes or peppermint candies, and natural peppermint flavoring. Chop the chocolates into small, even pieces for easy melting.
- Melt the Dark Chocolate: Using a double boiler or microwave, gently melt the dark chocolate (plant-based), stirring often to avoid burning. Once smooth, stir in half of the natural peppermint flavoring (natural). Pour the dark chocolate onto the lined baking sheet and spread evenly.
- Let the Dark Chocolate Set Slightly: Allow the dark chocolate to cool and firm slightly at room temperature or in the refrigerator. It should be set enough to hold the next layer without mixing.
- Melt the White Chocolate: Melt the white chocolate (plant-based) gently using the same method. When silky smooth, stir in the remaining natural peppermint flavoring (natural).
- Layer the White Chocolate Over Dark: Pour the white chocolate over the semi-set dark chocolate layer, spreading carefully to create an even surface.
- Sprinkle Crushed Candy Canes on Top: Immediately after applying the white chocolate, generously sprinkle crushed candy canes or peppermint candies on top so they stick into the warm layer.
- Chill and Set: Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the bark to fully set.
- Break into Pieces and Enjoy: Once firm, remove the bark from the baking sheet and break into rustic pieces. Serve immediately or package for gifts.
Notes
- Use quality chocolates for better flavor and smooth texture.
- Avoid overheating chocolate to prevent graininess or burning.
- Crush candy canes finely for even distribution on top.
- Pour white chocolate slowly to keep layers distinct.
- Store bark in a cool, dry place to maintain crispness.
