Description

Soft, fluffy Garlic Butter Dinner Rolls brushed with plant-based butter infused with fresh garlic. Perfect for any meal, these easy-to-make rolls bring rich flavor and tender texture to your dinner table for cozy family dinners or entertaining guests.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F / 43°C)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (natural)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup plant-based butter (natural), softened
  • 1/2 cup milk alternative (such as oat or almond milk)

For the Garlic Butter Topping

  • 1/4 cup plant-based butter (natural), melted
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, finely minced

Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast: Combine warm water with granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl. Sprinkle in the active dry yeast and let sit for 5 to 7 minutes until frothy, indicating the yeast is active.
  2. Mix and Knead the Dough: Add the flour, salt, and milk alternative to the yeast mixture. Gradually incorporate softened plant-based butter (natural) and mix until combined. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. First Rise: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 to 1.5 hours until it doubles in size.
  4. Shape the Rolls: Punch down the risen dough gently and divide into equal portions. Shape each piece into a ball and arrange snugly in a greased baking pan. Cover and let rise again for 30 to 45 minutes.
  5. Prepare Garlic Butter and Bake: While rolls rise, melt plant-based butter (natural) and mix in minced garlic. Brush the garlic butter generously over the tops of the rolls. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake rolls for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown and fluffy.
  6. Final Butter Brush: Immediately brush the baked rolls again with remaining garlic butter for a glossy, flavorful finish.

Notes

  • Use fresh yeast and check expiration for best rise.
  • Do not over-knead dough to maintain softness.
  • Proof dough in a warm, draft-free area.
  • Brush rolls twice with garlic butter for maximum flavor.
  • Cover dough with a damp towel or plastic wrap while rising to prevent drying.
  • For a gluten-free version, replace flour with a gluten-free baking blend and adjust liquids as needed.
