Description

Creamy Gnocchi with Spicy Turkey Sausage is a comforting and flavorful dish featuring pillowy potato gnocchi in a rich, creamy sauce accented by smoky and mildly spicy turkey sausage. Topped with melty shredded mozzarella cheese (vegetal) and fresh spinach, this quick and easy meal is perfect for family dinners or anytime you want a delicious, fuss-free dinner packed with taste and texture.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 500g pillowy potato gnocchi
  • 250g spicy turkey sausage, casing removed and crumbled
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (vegetal), divided
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups fresh spinach
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sausage and garlic. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add spicy turkey sausage, breaking it into bite-sized pieces. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes until browned and cooked through. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  2. Cook the gnocchi. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook gnocchi according to package instructions, about 2 to 3 minutes or until they float to the top. Drain and set aside.
  3. Make the creamy sauce. Reduce skillet heat to low and pour in heavy cream. Stir well to incorporate the browned bits from the sausage. Simmer gently for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Combine everything. Add cooked gnocchi and fresh spinach to the skillet. Stir gently until spinach wilts and gnocchi are coated evenly in the sauce. Sprinkle in half of the shredded mozzarella cheese (vegetal) and stir until melted and smooth.
  5. Serve hot with toppings. Plate the creamy gnocchi with spicy turkey sausage. Top generously with the remaining shredded mozzarella cheese (vegetal). Season with salt and pepper to taste and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use fresh gnocchi if possible for best texture and faster cooking.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan when cooking sausage to ensure proper browning.
  • Simmer the cream sauce gently to prevent curdling.
  • Add spinach last and stir quickly to maintain its bright green color and tenderness.
  • Use shredded mozzarella cheese (vegetal) for a smooth, creamy melt.
